Valentine Charity

Hi there Sunday people!

I´m back in the US after a week in Norway and I just had my second surgery last Wednesday. Now I am getting stronger and stronger and I am placing all my bets that I will be back in shape in not too long.

My mum is visiting Washington DC  and since I will be on crutches for a little while, we are having a slow and cozy weekend with restaurant visits and relaxing at home.

As Valentines Day is getting closer I thought I would make a list of meaningful and cute gifts for your loved ones. As you all are well aware, at certain times during the year, there is lots of advertisement and encouragement in the media to give to charity and to care for a cause. That is great, however, there is never a bad time to do something good. So why not use Valentines Day for a good cause? Don´t get me wrong, I LOVE chocolate and flowers, but I think a gift with a meaningful cause is pretty cool as well.

There are a jungle of charities to support out there. Whether it is a local charity/organization, national or international, the most important thing to make sure is that the one you use is effective so that your donation not is lost in covering administration costs. You can read more about Effective Altruism here.

No matter if you want to “adopt” an animal using the name of the one you love. Or if you want to sponsor a child or give a card with a donation. Or give a painting where a significant amount goes to charity or support refugees with means to survive the winter, – below are some recommendations of excellent options to support a great cause. ♥

Right now I´m on my way to another great organization, a local one here in DC, to volunteer. Sarah´s Charities fuels social change as a resource for those who wish to help the homeless, and for the homeless wishing to be helped, and today we are baking cakes to be delivered to 3 local shelters for Valentines Day.
